

Born to the late Dick and Henrietta Hayman of Clay City, on June 21st, 1941, “Linny” was the oldest of three children.
Desiring to become a teacher and coach after graduating from Clay City High School in 1959, she attended Indiana State University to receive a B.S. in physical education. During this time, Linda gained entry and instruction in a variety of sporting activities and participated in the Women’s Recreation Association and the recreational basketball team.
With her B.S. degree in 1963, Linda went on to be a dedicated physical education teacher and coach at Thornridge High School in Dolton, IL and then Nazareth College in Bardstown, KY.
She attended Indiana University to achieve a master’s degree in public health in 1967. After achieving this accomplishment, she worked at the Tennessee Department of Health in Nashville, TN. She returned to her home state in 1973 to complete her career at the Indiana State Board of Health, until her retirement in 2001.
Linda enjoyed driving and travelled many miles with Eddie. She fiercely loved her family and friends, and IU basketball. Later in life she enjoyed Indiana Fever games and golfing.
Linda is survived by her loving partner of 47 years, Edna Myers, Indianapolis, sisters, Bette Rupp (James), Clay City and Mary Huffman (Steve), Terre Haute and many dear friends.
She was "Aunt Linda" to two nieces and three nephews, James Rupp, Jr. (Stacey), Columbus, Marty Lasure (Kris), Columbus, Paul Huffman (Emily), Chicago, Jess Huffman, Bloomington, and Meredith Lee (Ryan), West Terre Haute. She is also survived by six great-nieces and five great-nephews.
Family preceding her in death was her mother and father, Henrietta and Richard “Dick” Hayman of Clay City, and a beloved uncle, Major John J. Luther, Jr.
No services are scheduled. A private family celebration of life will be held at a later time.
