Margaret Alice Payne

Margaret “Alice” Payne, 88, of Beech Grove, Indiana rejoined her late husband of 60 years, George William Payne, in eternal happiness on February 16, 2024. Born July 26, 1935, in Loogootee, Indiana to the late Catherine (Gootee) and Earl Thomas Mills, Alice was preceded in death by eleven siblings.

Alice was a member of the Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church in Beech Grove. Involved in many church activities, Alice helped fellow neighbors and those unable to get around on their own and was 2012 recipient of the “Angels Among Us” award.

Alice is survived by five children – Gary (Sandy), Ron (Kathy), Phil (Elaine), Mark, and Cindy Vittorio (Tony); Eight grandchildren – Rachael (Jeff), Damian, Sarah (Kyle), Simon (Caitlin), Kristin (Alan), Stephen (Vivianna), Tim (Jenna), Sam; and Eight great grandchildren – Dylan, Maggie, Dominic, Teddy, Reeves, Aayla, Michaela, and Madeleine.

A visitation from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. followed by a Catholic Mass at 11:00 a.m. will be held Friday, February 23, 2024 at the Holy Name of Jesus Christ Catholic Church, 89 N. 17th Avenue, Beech Grove, Indiana 46107. Afterwards, Alice will be laid to rest at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Greenwood. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions to St. Vincent De Paul.
