Marilyn Ann Murphy Steigerwald

Marilyn Ann Steigerwald, age 61, of Indianapolis, passed away September 3, 2011.

Marilyn, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, was a lifelong educator, teaching and volunteering at Catholic schools on the southside including St. Roch, St. Jude and Holy Name grade schools.

She is survived by her husband, Gary Steigerwald and daughters and son-in-law Ellen and Rick Taylor, Lynn Steigerwald and Marla Steigerwald all of Indianapolis. She loved spending time with her six grandchildren Zachary, Jacob, Benjamin, Hannah, Abigail and Allison Taylor. Marilyn is also survived by her sisters Eileen Hughett of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Shaun Murphy of Indianapolis and brother Kevin Murphy of Hoschton, Georgia.

Marilyn was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on October 31, 1949, the daughter of Herbert and Thelma Murphy. She was a graduate of Holy Name Grade School, Chartrand (now Roncalli) High School Class of 1967 and earned her education degree from Marian College in Indianapolis. Marilyn and Gary were married June 5, 1971 and recently renewed their vows at St. Jude Catholic Church on the occasion of the couple’s 40th wedding anniversary. Visitation will be Tuesday, September 6, 2011 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at St. Jude Catholic Church, 5353 McFarland Rd., Indianapolis, IN 46227, where the Funeral Mass will be Wednesday, September 7, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. Entombment will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
