

Mary Jane Slater, 96, passed away peacefully Nov. 13, 2012 in Indianapolis. She was born in Brazil, IN to the late Rueben and Orah Anderson. Mary Jane graduated from Brazil High School where she was class Valedictorian; was a Registered Nurse at Methodist Hospital for over 25 years; member of the National Association of RN's; member of the nursing sorority MEH; delivered Meals On Wheels receiving her 10 year pin; member of Women for Vets of WWII; member of the First Christian Church of Beech Grove, where was a member of the Lydia Circle and treasurer. She enjoyed poetry, sewing, art & crafts, and enjoyed traveling with her husband where they visited all 92 county seats in the state of Indiana. Mary Jane is survived by her daughter, Judy Jane (Larry) Knight; son, James Neal (Lori) Slater; grandchildren, Lydia (James) Manni, Clifford (Tali) Wildman, and Nicholas Slater; great-grandchildren, Sophia Manni, Leo Manni and Dahlia Jane Wildman. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard. The family would like to thank the Altenheim Community for their exceptional, compassionate care. Visitation will be held Friday, Nov. 16th from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in Little & Sons Funeral Home Beech Grove Chapel , with funeral services on Saturday Nov 17th at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial to follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery Greenwood.
