Paul Richard Hornberger

He was born in Indianapolis on April 20th, 1929 to Ambrose and Charlotte Hornberger (Farrell). He attended St. Catherine Grade School and was a graduate of Franklin Central High School, both in Indianapolis. He married Patricia Showalter of Acton, Indiana on September 30, 1950 and they shared 65 wonderful years together until her death on November 23, 2015. They had eleven children and Paul spent his entire career in the printing business, retiring from the Indianapolis Star after more than 40 years of service.

Paul and Pat joined Nativity Parish in 1952, just 4 years after its inception and he was the longest-tenured Parishioner at 72 years. He was active in all manner of Parish service as a member of the Parish Council, Church Building Committee, Athletic Coach, festival organizer, and other Parish functions. He believed strongly in Catholic Education and was immensely proud of the fact that he had either a child, grandchild, or great-grandchild attending Nativity Grade School for 63 consecutive years. He was their oldest Parishioner at the time of his death.

He was preceded in death by his wife Patricia and sons Daniel and Douglas.

Paul is survived by 9 children Diane Anderson, (Bob), Donna Goebes, (William), David, (Margaret), Dean, (Benita), Debra Carter, (William), Dennis, (Janene), Darrin (Kris), Jennifer (widow of Douglas), Denise Farrell (Brian), and Donald, (Luann). Additionally, Paul was proud to say that he had a combined 89 grandchildren, great-grand-children, and great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be Monday, April 21, 2025 from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Little and Sons Funeral Home, 1301 Main Street, Beech Grove, Indiana.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 P.M. on April 22, 2025 at Nativity Catholic Church, 7225 Southeastern Avenue, Indianapolis, Indiana. Burial will follow at Acton Cemetery, 7900 Acton Road, Acton, Indiana.

A mercy meal will be held immediately following the burial at 524 Events Center, 524 Main Street, Beech Grove, Indiana.

The family requests memorials may be given to Nativity Catholic Church, 7225 Southeastern Avenue, Indianapolis, Indiana or Noble of Indiana, 7701 East 21st Street, Indianapolis, Indiana.
