

77, passed away September 27, 2013. He was born June 3, 1936 in St. Louis, Missouri to Roger and Lela (Hollingsworth) Comstock. Known as Chef Ralph to many, he was a retired executive chef from Aramark Food Services, receiving his cooking and baking training overseas through the United States Army. During his years at Aramark, he was executive chef at RCA Corporation, Farm Bureau Insurance. He was an adjunct professor at Ivy Tech’s Hospitality Administration since 1978. Chef Ralph was a certified executive chef by the ACF, where he is the treasurer of Indianapolis ACF Chapter. He is a member of Southview Wesleyan Church and Gideon’s International. Chef Ralph was involved in several community organizations including Second Helpings, Camp Healing Tree, Dining A La Heart and Chef and Child. He was a judge for many competitions. He received several honors some being named Indiana Chef of the Year in 1982, being inducted into the American Academy of Chefs Culinary Hall of Fame, ACF President’s Medallion, Sharing Culinary Traditions Award, The Edmond Gass award for outstanding service in the culinary arts field, ACF Life Time Achievement Award.. Chef Ralph is preceded in death by his beloved wife Helen Comstock and sister Dorothy Bryan. He is survived by his children Debbie (George Spears) Comstock, Kathie Miner, Martita (Terry) Wampler, Jack (Gerri) Comstock, grandchildren David (Melissa), Christopher, Kendra (Brian), Danielle, Michael and Zachary and great grandchildren Ava, Colin and Bryden. A Celebration of Life will be Friday October 4 at 1 pm at Southview Wesleyan Church, 4700 Shelbyville Road. Visitation will be Thursday October 3 from 2 – 8 pm at the church and Friday an hour before service. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens. Memorial contributions in Ralph’s name may be offered to Gideon’s International. Services entrusted to Little and Sons Beech Grove Funeral Home.
