Rita Kay Rice

Rita Kay Rice 77, of Greenwood, Indiana , passed away on April 18, 2021. Rita was born on August 1, 1943 to the late Roy and Minnie Sanders. She worked at Western Electric for many years. She was very creative and had a knack for problem solving and engineering solutions. Rita was as "sweet as sugar" and never met a stranger. She loved spending time with her family. The door to her home was always open and she loved to visit with anyone and everyone that stopped by. She loved her "Porch Therapy" with friends and neighbors. Rita was a member of the Shelby Street Lighthouse Pentecostal Church for many years where she inherited the nickname the "Coffee Queen". Rita is survived by her son; Victor (Heather) Rice, grandchildren; Jordan Rice, Gavyn Williamson, McKaylynn Williamson, Lauren Rice and Gavin Rice and her siblings; Shirley Sanders-Gambrel, Roy (Mattie) Sanders Jr. and Vonnie Sanders, along with many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her loving husband; Lee Roy Rice and siblings; J.B. Sanders, Pearlie Giles, Frank Sanders, Corinnia Sanders-Howe and Ron Sanders. Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 22, 2021 at Shelby Street Lighthouse Pentecostal Church (8620 Shelby St., Indianapolis, Indiana), from 10:00am - 1:00pm.
