Stella “Eleanor” Werner,
103, of Beech Grove, Indiana departed this life Thursday, March 11, 2021. Eleanor was born August 6, 1917 in Terre Haute, IN to the late Ora Ellis, and Martha Anna (Hicks) Newport, Sr. She was raised in Indianapolis and would work for Eli Lilly & Company in administration for 31 years, retiring August 31, 1979. While working, Eleanor also kept her home in order while raising three daughters. In her later years, she enjoyed swimming and exercise at the Arthur R Baxter YMCA. She was a kind and gentle soul who was happiest making memories with her family and friends.
Eleanor was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 61 years, Harold Francis Werner; her devoted daughter, Patricia Marie (Werner) Lamping and siblings, Marguerite Ann (Newport) Jedinak, Ora Ellis Newport Jr., Normand Allen Newport, Mary Helen (Newport) Stewart and Louis Howard Newport.
She is survived by her beloved daughters, Sharon Kay (Werner) Coyle and Karen Sue (Robert) Werner-Scroggin; loving sister, Elva Mae (Newport) Spears; ten grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren and 28 great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation for Eleanor will begin; Family 9 to 10am, Family and Friends 10:00am to Noon on Monday, March 15th at Holy Name Catholic Church in Beech Grove followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 pm. Entombment then follows at Calvary Cemetery.
