Michael Martinez was the best son, brother, and uncle ever. Mike was the second born in a family of 4 children. When my dad found out my mom was pregnant with another boy, he was so happy because he was going to have his 2 boys, Eric and Mike. When Eric and Mike were small they were very close, they were just 14months apart. When they were toddlers, my mom would take Eric to work and after would buy him a toy and Eric would say “y para mi pelón mami” (and for my baldy mommy). When it was Mikes turn to go to work and my mom would buy him something, Mike would say “y llelli mami” (and Eric mommy). Mike grew up to be the most amazing man ever. If you know mike, then you know lalo. Mike was Lalo’s second father. He took him to every single baseball practice and game, people would think that Mike was Lalo’s father. He was a devoted son as well. He always made sure my parents were good and healthy. Mike loved playing with his niece Alenna, he taught her how to use a laptop at just 3yrs old. Alenna and mike would always take his dog, Mamba for a walk every time Alenna would ask mike. Mike loved gardening and he saw that Alenna loved eating his tomatoes so he planted her own plants of cherry tomatoes so she can pick and eat them everyday. When his sister Jenny was pregnant with her children, Mike always was so attentive. He knew she craved fruit in her pregnancies and would call her and tell her “I’m taking you the fruit you like, I’ll be there right now.” When Jenny’s son was born, Jayce, Mike would get home from work and shower fast so he could carry him and lay him on his stomach that he would call “the water bed.” They would spend hours sleeping like that. Mike was like a big brother to everyone that he met. He also coached a baseball travel team. Each kid on that team enjoyed being around Michael. He would check up on them and care about there well being. He will be missed by many people. His presence was always known and his kind heart will always be remembered. Mike was loved by everyone he met and Mike loved them back. He was the heart and rock of his family. Mike will be unforgettable and irreplaceable.

Michael Martinez You were always known as the person full of energy, the jokster, and just would say it how it was lol. You were the life of our group and reason for many laughter sessions we had but today we are left with pain in our hearts and tears in our eyes. There are many people that come into our lives but we always have those special people that find a place in our hearts. Michael was one of those people. You could be having a bad day and his jokes or just personality would make you forget what was going on in your personal life. Michael was also a person you could talk to about anything. Today, we have lost a man of good deeds who is now with God. I wish you had not left us so early Michael. You will forever remain in my heart. My sincerest Condolences to his family and friends. REST IN PARADISE MIKE! We Love you man! 🙏🏻

When I was 16 years old my dad put me on the phone to talk my extended uncle Mike about college. Mike talked to me for 2 hours about what I should do, how to apply, what to expect, and to be proactive. He had been a previous ucla Bruin, a school I knew nothing about. 15 years later as a fellow Bruin and on a path to a PhD , who knows where I would be without that conversation.

All I have is good memories when it comes to my cousin mike,as kids he was a bit older than me and my brothers and he always treated us like if he was our older brother. He use to share a room with my cousin erik and I remember we always wanted to be in there and even sleep there,so he would tell my cousin erik "dont say anything to them this is my room too and they can be in here all they want"...When we played basketball it was soo much fun because mike would always use his big body to go through us and he would just laugh.Mike, erik my two brothers and I were more than just cousins and i honestly feel like i lost a brother.Mike had a heart of gold just like my dad and if you wouldve met him,it trully was impossible to dislike him.I can honestly go on for hours and hours talking about my cousin mike but I just want to say one last thing...Thank you mike, for everything and for all the good memories. You will always be missed and will never be forgotten because we love you.
