Alfonso Enrique Gago came to the United States at approximately 18 years old. He got his B.A. in Business Transportation at the University of San Francisco in 1968 and his MBA in Transportation and Finance at Loyola School of Business. He was drafted into the Navy during the Vietnam War and stationed in Hawaii, but was sent home as the war was over. Alfonso primarily worked in oil and gas, but prior to that, he was a racer in the United States and South America, surfed in California, worked for Trans World Airlines, which allowed him to live in Madrid, London, and Paris.
As much as Alfonso loved adrenaline, he loved spending time with his wife, Gladys, and daughter, Tatyana more. He was his wife’s “fashion consultant” and Tatyana’s “Eagle”. One of his favorite activities with Tatyana was to go to Kroger while he also loved giving “fashion advice” to Gladys when they would go shopping together. He was a big fan of “real music” such as Artie Shaw, Frank Sinatra and big band orchestras (Bad Bunny almost made the cut). Alfonso was never afraid to try something out of the ordinary and was always open to new experiences even if they were his daughter’s “weird ideas”. Despite his “old” age, he had a youthful spirit.
Alfonso was preceded in death by Ezekiel Gago, Marta Unda, and Octavio Gago. He is survived by Gladys Cadena, Tatyana Gago, Carlos and Carla Ryerson, Orlando Valencia, and April Barrios.
