Brandon went on to attend and graduate from Houston Baptist University where he wrote for the school newspaper as Sports Editor then later as Editor in Chief. While writing for the newspaper he won 9 awards from the Texas Intercollegiate Press Association and 2 national awards from the Columbia Scholastic Press Association.
During his time at HBU he began working for KILT Radio in promotions and eventually transitioned to Sports Radio 610 where he pursued the love of his life - Houston professional sports.
The ultimate home town fan and sports radio professional, he knew the Texans, Rockets, Astros and their farm system inside and out. He watched, listened, read, texted, edited, produced, and talked sports 24/7. He was the eternal Houston sports optimist.
He loved his family, friends, and coworkers and will truly be missed.
Special thanks to President Dr. Robert Sloan and the faculty and staff at Houston Baptist University, present and past coworkers at Sports 610, the Houston Texans, and friends for reaching out to the family and acknowledging Brandon during this difficult time.
Brandon is survived by his parents, Susan and Clay Porter, brother, Bryan Porter and wife Lauren, niece Kaycee and nephew Wyatt, and numerous aunts and cousins.
Memorial services will be announced at a later date. The family prefers that those who wish to make contributions make them to the Houston Baptist University Office of Advancement designating the STEM building project, or their favorite charity.
