Ciro Martin Samperi, loving husband, father and grandfather, passed away on Thursday, September 16, 2021. A native Houstonian, Ciro was born to Martin and Frances (Bilao) Samperi on May 17, 1934. He graduated from St. Thomas High School in 1953 and attended Loyola University of New Orleans and the University of Houston. He was a member of the Twenty Club, the Sacred Heart Society, and the Knights of Columbus. On September 2, 1957, he married the love of his life, Ann Elizabeth Sedita, and they shared 64 happy years together.
Ciro worked for over 50 years beginning his career as a draftsman with Metallic Buildings and later in Sales with National Steel. Affectionately known as “Sam”, he was beloved by his numerous office buddies who shared many a lively card game over lunch. Ciro enjoyed making people laugh with his great sense of humor, and he always had a story to tell. Ciro was a hands-on dad, from coaching his son’s and daughter’s sports teams, to camping with the scouts, and everything in between.
Ciro is survived by his wife of 64 years, Ann Samperi; son and daughter-in-law, Stephen and Marsha Samperi; daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Jim O’Neill; grandchildren Joseph and Christopher O’Neill.
Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted on Thursday, September 23, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Francis De Sales Catholic Church, 8200 Roos Rd., Houston, Texas 77036, with celebrant Father Wayne Wilkerson and concelebrant Msgr. Vincent A. Sedita. Rite of Committal will follow at 11:45 a.m. at Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery.
