To the Cochran Family,

You are absolutely wonderful!  My Mother could not attend Ms. Cochran's services so you visited her at the nursing home she resides in.  You brought her flowers and shared memories of the wonderful years she spent with your family as well as the "escapades" she shared with your Mother (with Mr. Cochran coming to the "rescue") on several occassions. She is still beaming about your visit.  When you sang to her we were overwhelmed by the sound of your angelic voices.  The residents are still talking about "Leola's choir."
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for extending your Mother's love and your love to our Mother.

Sending love to Arvil and the Cochran family, I am saddened at Merle's passing, and filled with joy that I met her. Her gentle ways, lyrical voice, sweet, open face and heart, are what I will remember always. I cherish those times with my darling friend Tana and her beautiful family. My thoughts are with you all in this bittersweet time.

I was sorry to hear of Mrs. Cochran's passing.  May you find comfort in your memories and in each other.

My utmost condolences go out to the family of Ms. Cochran. May you be comforted by knowing that your dear loved one has the wonderful prospect of resuming life again free from all the causes of death and the grief it brings.

We will miss Aunt Merle. We send our best.

Brother Cochran, Jann and Andra, I am so sorry for the loss of your wife, mother and grandmother. She was a source of strength and love for all her family. She will be missed. You will all be reunited in the Celestial Kingdom.

I will always remember and cherish Merle as steadfast of heart, resilient of spirit, rich in humor and hope.

Her love for and appreciation of Arval (after 66 years of marriage!) was luminous, her capacity to wrap her large, precious family in love boundless. The beauty she saw and sought about her opened her heart to people and possibilities she never tired of exploring and appreciating.

She dealt with an uncommon amount of physical illness and challenge, eluding death miraculously and magnificently for such a long time – far beyond what could have been envisioned by the bounds of reason or the resources of medicine.

And who could ever forget the beguiling glint in her eye when she was seized by some image, insight or incident that intrigued or amused her?

I want to thank my dear sister-in-law Tana and Arval (the most kind, loving person on this earth) for allowing the inimitable Merle to bring blessing to my life. 

To Arval, Jann, Devan, Genene, Bronwyn, Tana, Lex, and all Merle's family members I offer my condolences. You are in my prayers as you walk together through this time of great loss.

My love and concern goes to all of your family and especially to my good friend, Tana. I wish so very much I could be there to be with you when you celebrate and remember your dear mother's life on Saturday morning. You will all be in my heart. Sending you much love, Pam Boyar

I have the blessing and priveledge of being married to one of Merle's beautiful granddaughters and of becoming a part of the family. I am grateful to Merle for the values she taught her children and that were passed to my wife as well.  Her legacy includes music, laughter, good cooking, and hospitality.  She was loved by many and will be missed, but I am sure we will see her again in the life to come.

We are sorry for your loss, and want to thank you for raising a couple of daughters in Idaho Falls that we love and respect. They are beautiful and kind natured. God Bless your family at this time. Chuck and Brenda Kamka

One of Merle's daughters, Tana, has been a very dear friend of mine for over 20 years.  Although I never met Merle, I know that she must have been a truly remarkable person to have had such an amazing daughter.  My heart goes out to all of you at this difficult time.

Mr. Cochran and family,

You are like family to us.  We have known you and your family so many, many years.  You have been so kind and loving to our family.  Please know that our thoughts and prayers are with you.
