Edith was born and grew up in Claremont, NH. She went to business school in Chicago where she met her husband, David. They moved to The Bronx, NY where their daughter, Susan, was born. A year later, they moved back to her hometown of Claremont where Peter was born. David’s job eventually brought them to Schenectady, NY where they lived until they retired to Pembroke Pines, FL in 1987.
Edith was involved in many Jewish organizations throughout her life in each city where she lived. In Schenectady, she was the business manager of Congregation Agudat Achim, and an active sisterhood member, serving on the catering committee. She was proud of the events they produced, including many weddings and B’nai Mitzvot. Edith was particularly proud of becoming an adult Bat Mitzvah at Agudat Achim.
She and David moved to Century Village at Pembroke Pines, Florida in 1987 where they enjoyed a wonderful life of retirement. After the loss of her husband, Edith moved to Houston to be close to family. She moved into independent living at the Brookdale Galleria where she enjoyed five years of making new friends, welcoming new residents to the Brookdale and participating in all the wonderful activities offered to the independent community there.
Community was important to Edith and her love of her family was paramount. She was proud of each of her children and grandchildren and loved to talk about them to her friends. While her children brought joy to her heart, her grandchildren, Alex, Max, Michael, Rachel, Jake, and Matt and great-grandsons, Andrew and Eli, meant the world to her.
