

Hank was born in Chicago, Illinois on June 13, 1951. He became a child of God through Holy Baptism at St. Andrew Lutheran Church in Chicago Illinois in 1955, and was confirmed through the Rite of Confirmation at Grace Lutheran Church in Orange, Texas in 1965.
The family moved to Fannett, Texas in 1956, and to Orange, Texas in 1962, where he attended West Orange High School. He moved to Houston in 1968, where he worked in several industries, including construction, oil and gas, and the food industry.
Hank began taking classes at San Jacinto College in 1973. In 1975, he was employed as a computer lathe operator, and while working full-time, he continued his education, graduating from the University of Houston with a Bachelor’s degree, Summa Cum Laude, with a major in Business Computer Information Systems, minoring in Business Administration.
Hank held many positions as a Systems Analyst and Database Administrator. He was employed at El Paso Corporation until 2009. Subsequently, Hank began to fulfill lifelong interests in volunteer work and the food industry. He dreamed of and explored the possibility of owning and operating a beer garden, or gastro pub. He volunteered regularly at the Houston Food Bank, at the Portwall Warehouse and the Keegan Kitchen, performing volunteer orientation and training for several years.
Hank and Mary, the love of his life, were married August 6, 1977 at Holy Ghost Catholic Church, Bellaire, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Eula Louise Kaspar; Mary’s parents, Mimi and Maurice Superville; and Mary’s brother Joe Superville.
Hank is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Mary; his beloved father, Weldon Kaspar and wife Lois; his siblings Carolyn Richards and husband John; Gail Martin and husband Tommy; Helen Gipson and husband Grant; Tina Meriwether and husband Hershel; Earl Kaspar and wife Sharon; Joyce Miertschin and husband James; and Marlene Meador and husband Michael. He is also survived by Mary’s family, Maurice “Chuck” Superville, Tom Superville and son Tommy; Margaret “Peggy” Popham and husband Geoff.
He is also survived by nieces and nephews: Rick Travis, George Gilliland and fiancée Morgan, Robby Martin and wife Denise, Aaron Gipson, Ashley Worthy and husband James, Heather Self and husband Chad, Candace Gipson, Amberlee LeBlanc, Rachel Meador, Morgan Meriwether, Britney LeBlanc, Michael David Meador, Anne Meriwether, and Clara Miertschin. as well as many grand nieces and nephews.
Hank was a loving husband, son, brother and uncle, brother-in-law, son-in-law, cousin, and friend to many. His brilliant smile revealed his kind heart.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, or the Houston Food Bank.
Visitation from 3 – 7 pm, on Wednesday, April 9, 2014. Funeral service at 11 am, on Thursday, April 10, 2014, at Dignity Levy Funeral Home, Bellaire, Texas. Interment to follow at Memorial Oaks Cemetery, Houston, Texas.
