Dan is survived by his loving wife Mary Catherine Boone, her daughter Rachel Barry, his three children Patricia Lynn Boone, Daniel Howard Boone and Steven William Boone and his sister Angela Boone.
Mary Catherine Boone is the mother of Rachel E. Barry and her husband Shane Barry and their two children Jack and Jillian. Daniel H. Boone is married to Rene’ DuPriest Boone; they live in Georgetown, Texas and are parents to Jacob Michael. Dan grew up in Weatherford, Texas and attended Southern Methodist University and the University of Houston. He was a member of the ATO fraternity at SMU. Dan married and moved back to Houston in 1957 where he started his lifelong involvement in the car business. Dan became the President of Bill McDavid Oldsmobile in 1969 at the young age of 31. He owned and operated several different car dealerships in the Houston area from 1969 to 1995 including Dan Boone Chevrolet, Intercontinental Motors Mercedes Benz, and Interstate Ford. During his business career Dan served as a member of the Texas Motor Vehicle Commission and was awarded the Time Quality Dealer Award by Time Magazine in 1978. He also served as the head of the Houston area Better Business Bureau and on the board of the Greater Houston Convention and Visitors Council.
Dan had many interests and hobbies throughout his life. His enthusiasm and daring, a spirit of adventure, showed in his passion for world travel, hunting, golf, flying—He was an instrument-rated pilot — crafting tales and jokes, taking his Harley out, sky diving, and extended to tabulating the game kill of his cat on a small food bowl in careful images of lizards and birds. He was one of the earliest members of Lochinvar Golf Club where he made many friends and spent many enjoyable afternoons. His ability to light up a room and enliven any gathering will be dearly missed.
