

Irwin Selzer passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Tuesday, March 22, 2011. He never knew a stranger, always had a story to tell or a joke to share. Irwin believed in family, faith and friends and implemented all of those into his daily life. He was born April 2, 1923 in Cleveland, Ohio to Bessie and Carl Selzer. His family moved to Houston when he was four and he graduated from San Jacinto High School. He served 4 years in the U.S. Army. Upon his return, Irwin became a Master Plumber and along with his twin brother Arthur, they helped to build C. Selzer and Sons where he flourished as a businessman and pioneer in the wholesale plumbing industry for 47 years. Irwin was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, the love of his life, Rose Rudick Selzer. He leaves behind his sons Alan Selzer (Laurie) & Joel Selzer (Claudia). He also leaves behind his adoring grandchildren whom he was lovingly known as "Pop-Pop", Mindi Ward (Wes), Daryl Selzer (Jenny), Brad Selzer (Meredith), Dustin Selzer and Dillon Selzer and his two great-grandchildren, Landon & Hayley Selzer. Irwin was also preceded in death by his sister & brother in law Lil & Sam Bloom, and his twin brother Arthur Selzer. He leaves behind his brother in laws, Max Rudick (Helene), Leon Rudick (Connie) and his sister in law, Janice Selzer. He also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews with a special place in his heart for Joan & Louis Katz and Betty & Ed Smith. Irwin was a lifelong member of Congregation Beth Yeshurun, the Gaillards Organization for over 65 years and a Century Club supporter of B'nai Brith. Services will be held at 1 p.m. on March 24th at Congregation Beth Yeshurun Cemetery, 1037 N. Post Oak @ Old Katy Rd. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Congregation Beth Yeshurun or charity of your choice.
