

James Allen Haney, beloved husband, father, son and brother passed away June 13, 2016 in Houston Texas at the age of 72 after a courageous battle with cancer. He is preceded in death by his father Lowell, sister Roseanne and son Patrick. He is survived by his mother Isobel, brother John, wife Kathleen, daughter Charlotte, son Michael and his wife Barbara, and six grandchildren.
Jim was born in 1943 in St. Catherines, Ontario, Canada; he became a US Citizen. In Twinsburg, Ohio in 1963, Jim was the Valedictorian of his High School class and he continued his education at Northwestern University in Chicago where he earned a degree in civil engineering and met and married the love of his life, Kathleen.
He worked as a structural engineer for over forty years, patenting 22 devices for offshore oil production. Jim's work took him to many countries on six continents--he loved the challenge and the adventure of meeting new people, cultures, and suspension bridges.
He converted to the Catholic faith and expressed his convictions in kindness and generosity. Jim's lifelong care and support to his family demonstrated his devotion. Jim had many dear friends and was a role model, mentor, and second father to many. Active into the last few months of his life, Jim has left many grateful loved ones behind as he is once again an immigrant on his next journey.
Rosary and visitation are Thursday, June 16 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Earthman Funeral Home at 6700 Ferris, Bellaire.
The service will be Friday, June 17 at 10 am at at Holy Ghost Catholic Church, 6921 Chetwood Dr, Bellaire. Graveside services will be held following the service.
