

JOE STANLEY HOLM, born on October 24, 1921, died peacefully on April 18, 2012 in the presence of God and love. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ida and Eric Holm, of Stockholm, Sweden, his brother Sidney Eric Holm, Sr., sister Marchie Holm Mathews, and niece, Susan Mathews.
He is survived by his adoring and loving wife of 62 years, Marian, his devoted son, Joel Gregory Holm and wife Helen, grandson Andrew Holm, brother-in-law Leo D. Pellerin and wife Erline, sister-in-law Marguerite Holm, and numerous and very beloved nieces and nephews.
Joe was a devout Catholic. He loved God, family, and country. He proudly served in the United States Coast Guard throughout the Pacific theatre in World War II. He was a native Houstonian and a lifelong football fan. He attended Stephen F. Austin High School, and was a graduate of the University of Houston. He worked for Ada Oil Co. where he retired after 23 years.
The family extends special thanks for his wonderful medical care to Dr. Lazaro Cherem, Dr. Antoine Younis, Dr. George Younis, Dr. Sik Choo, Dr. Terry Williams, St. Luke’ s Hospital nursing staff and chaplains, and Houston Hospice staff and chaplains. We also wish to thank our loving supportive family and many caring neighbors.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, with a Vigil beginning at 6:00 PM on Sunday, April 22, 2012 at Earthman’s Funeral Home, 6700 Ferris, Bellaire, Texas. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Fr. Troy Gately at 10:00 AM, Monday, April 23, 2012, at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 6800 Buffalo Speedway, Houston. The family will gather for a private burial service later.
In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to the restoration fund at Annunciation Catholic Church, 1618 Texas Ave., Houston, TX 77003.
Joe was loved by many and will be missed dearly.
