

Jack is survived by his loving family, wife, Patricia “Pat” Bertotti; son, Daniel Bowles and wife, Nigora; daughters, Kelley Bowles; Salli Shanahan and husband, David; and, Susan Lathrop. His grandchildren are Nicole Bowles, Joseph Bowles, Joshua Bowles; Luke Shanahan, Mary Shanahan, Shelby Shanahan, Priscilla Shanahan; Sarah Lathrop and Rachel Lathrop. His brother, Walter Bertotti. He is preceded in death by his mother, Mary Bertotti and father, Oswald Bertotti.
A
t the age of 65, Jack began riding in the BP MS 150 Houston to Austin Bike Ride to make a difference in the lives of those living with multiple sclerosis, a disease with no cure. In his early 70’s, Jack found himself also living with an incurable disease, Alzheimer’s.
Jack earned his Bachelor and Master degrees in Mechanical Engineering from Clarkson University, Potsdam, New York. He began his career at DuPont, followed by Shell. Shell moved him to Delft and then back to New York. Jack was in the first wave of Shell moving their people to Houston. Jack often said he came to Houston kicking and screaming and now would kick and scream if he had to go back to New York. He closed out his career with the company he founded, Bertco Engineering Services.
Services will be held 2 p.m. Friday, July 22, 2016, in the Hankamer Chapel within Second Baptist Church, 6400 Woodway Drive.
