
Judith Grace Sepper Bronstein died March 6, 2016 in Owings Mills, Maryland near Baltimore, where she had been convalescing since August 2013. She was 93. Her graveside funeral will take place on Tuesday, March 8 at 1:30PM, at the Emanu El Memorial Park, 8341 Bissonnet St, Houston, TX 77074.
Judith was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and, as of last November, a great-grandmother. She enjoyed many close friendships going back to childhood, as well as many fond acquaintances in her assisted living home.
She was born on September 27, 1922, in Houston Texas, the youngest child of the late Julia and John Sepper. She was confirmed at Congregation Beth Israel in 1938, graduated from San Jacinto High School in 1940 and attended The University of Houston. Judith proudly served in the US Navy Waves during World War II.
She married the late Benjamin M. Bronstein in 1951. They raised four children in Bellaire, Texas, where she lived her entire adult life until moving to Baltimore.
Her children and their families are: William Bronstein of Baltimore MD (married to Denice Malkin Bronstein); Miriam Baskin of New York NY (married to David Baskin, children Julia, Nathan, and Rebeccah); David Bronstein of Oxnard CA (formerly married to Patricia Gallien Bronstein; children Erin (married to Sam Beier, daughter Annabelle Kate Beier); and Kate (deceased 2007); and Lester Bronstein of White Plains NY (married to Benjie Ellen Schiller; children Liba (married to Brett Schwartz), Yonatan, and Avraham).
She is also survived by a sister, Jeanette Winstein of Los Angeles CA, niece Nancy Winstein (partner of Lee Gershuny) and nephew Stanley Winstein; and niece Ann Sepper and nephew Robert Sepper of Milwaukee WI (married to Kathy), both children of her late brother Edward Sepper.
She was a founding member of Congregation Emanu El in Houston, where she remained active all her life. After the war she did secretarial work at the temple before becoming a wife and full-time mother. In later years she worked at Walter Pye’s Department Store, as a podiatrist’s assistant, and as a librarian at the Bellaire (Texas) Library. Her most important life’s work was raising her family.
