Laura Ann Facciponte

Laura Ann Facciponte (Schopler), left this life late in the evening on Monday, May 15, 2023, following her courageous battle with cancer. Born in Dayton, Ohio on July 5, 1945, she was the daughter of Francis Anthony and Mary Elizabeth (Bockrath) Schopler. Laura married the love of her life, Charles Facciponte, on January 8, 1966. Soon after they married, the couple moved to California, where Laura joined the Marketing Research Department at the Los Angeles Times. In January, 1971, Laura and Chuck moved to Houston, where Chuck continued his career with Shell Oil.

Laura became a devoted mother when she and Chuck welcomed their son, Nicholas, in early 1971. Nine years later, their family grew when their daughter Angela was born in 1980. Their family was also blessed with five beautiful grandchildren who Laura adored.

Chuck’s career with Shell would take them all over the world including 6 years in Cameroon, West Africa. While living in Bakersfield, CA, in 1986, Laura earned her Bachelors of Science Degree in Marketing from California State University, Bakersfield.

Laura loved needle work and spent countless hours researching on ancestry.com tracing their family tree as far back as possible. She was devoted to her faith, and was a member of Houston’s St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, where she became a member of the Catholic Daughters of America.

She is preceded in death by her parents, and survived by her husband of 57 years, Charles D. Facciponte; son, Nicholas C. Facciponte and his wife, Courtney; daughter, Angela M. (Facciponte) Meyer, and her husband Gabriel; grandchildren, Promise C. Facciponte, Parrish C. Facciponte, Elizabeth F. Edwards, Stewart M. Meyer and Jacob E. Meyer; siblings, Rebecca Schopler Israel, Frank Schopler and David Schopler.

Visitation will be from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, May 24, 2023 at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, 1801 Sage Road, Houston, 77056. Rosary will be recited at 1:30 p.m. with Funeral Mass at 2:00 p.m.
