

Lawrence “Larry” Michael Scalise departed this life unexpectedly on July 4, 2017. Larry was born in Houston, TX at St. Joseph’s Hospital on March 31, 1942. He lived a long happy life; attending Bellaire High School (Class of 1960), and went on to Sam Houston State University to receive a BS in Photographic Science, he was a member of the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity, and graduated in 1965. He married the love of his life, Joan, in 1965 and had 4 children. Throughout his career he worked in the photography industry, and was a founder of Que Imaging in which he retired in 2012. Larry was a life-time member of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, he originally volunteered on Western Art committee and later switched to the BBQ committee. He received his life-time status after serving the rodeo for 26 years. He was also a member of the Krewe of Gambrinus for 12 years in Galveston, TX. For the past 15 years he selflessly and compassionately cared for his sister-in-law Mary Harry. Larry enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, camping, taking pictures and spending time with family. Larry and Joan retired to Tiki Island, TX to fish and enjoy the island life. Throughout his life Larry enjoyed Mexican food, a great burger, a good glass of wine, a cup of Blue Bell Ice Cream, attending his grandchildren’s sporting events and traveling with Joan.
A funeral service will be held at Earthman Bellaire Funeral Home on Friday, July 14, 2017 at 2:00 PM with a private burial the next day.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Nash and Nita Scalise. He is survived by his wife Joan of 52 years, Sister, Carolyn Floyd and husband Bill and children Shelley Schenk and husband, Wiley, John Scalise and wife, Julie, Samantha Babin and husband, Jason, and Stephen Scalise and wife, Suzanne. Larry is also survived by his grandchildren, Kaitlyn & Madison Schenk, Mikaeli Scalise, Cole, Cade, Carson & Cameron Babin, and Logan, Landon & Michele Scalise. In addition he is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
