

Linda Jane Kastner Messer, Beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother and friend passed away peacefully after a long courageous battle with Parkinson’s disease at Silverado Senior Living Center in Sugarland on January 28, 2014.
Linda was born in Dixon, Illinois on June 11, 1937 to Karl William and Lucy May Kastner. She graduated from Dixon High School in 1955.
Linda met the love of her life at the roller skating rink. Jim and Linda were avid water skiers on weekends and roller skaters at night. They married April 12, 1957, settled in Rockford, Illinois and had a son and daughter: James and Rebecca. In November of 1967 they moved to Houston, Texas. In May of 1970 they completed their family after the birth of another son, Matthew.
Professionally she worked as a secretary and a keypunch operator for 37 years.
Linda is preceded in death by her husband James Lee Messer, Parents Karl and Lucy Kastner.
She is survived by her son James Messer, daughter-in-law Sarah, daughter Rebecca Medina, son-in-law Ed, son Matthew Messer, daughter-in-law Gretchen Gartner, grandsons Riley James Medina, Brendan Kai Messer; brothers Albert Kastner, Bill Kastner, and Glen Kastner.
Linda’s hobby was quilting. She belonged to Scattered Pieces Bee, Greater Houston Guild, and Coastal Prairie Guild where she made wonderful friends.
