Armaline grew up in Houston, where her father was a local firefighter captain, and she enjoyed trips to the firehouse and outings to watch him firefighting in action. She graduated high school and later met Ira O. Franks at a company picnic she attended with her mother. They married soon after meeting, and had three children together. They remained married for over 65 years until Ira’s passing in 2013.
Armaline had a “larger than life” personality with a great sense of humor and fun. She had a magnetism that drew people to her and she would light up the room from the moment she walked in. Family was her priority, and you could say she loved her kids to a fault. She was an incredible caretaker, and not only cared for her family, but others that became like family due to hardship and loss, such as a neighbor family that had lost their father. One of those children would even grow up to marry one of her sons.
Armaline enjoyed painting and sewing, but most of all fun with her husband and family. She lived through many trials in addition to good times, and told the most incredible stories. She loved greatly, and was greatly loved.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Genevieve Jaynes; her husband, Ira O. Franks; sister, Joyce Wilson, and children, Brenda Gail Johnson and Joseph Randall Franks.
Armaline is survived by her son, Ira (Kim) Franks; son-in-law, Robert Lee Johnson; sister-in-law, Dorothy Franks; grandchildren, Jill (Steven) Lee Williams, Beth (Glynn) Ann Castro, Kristen Lee Franks and great grandchildren, Lucien Williams, Emma Castro and Gianna Castro.
