Mary Sue (Buxton) Madsen, 91, of Bellaire, Texas, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on July 27, 2021. Mary was born in Webster City, Iowa on March 3, 1930, the daughter of George V. and Susan (Crumpacker) Buxton. She graduated from McPherson High School (McPherson, Kansas) and attended Kansas University prior to her marriage to Kenneth, her beloved husband of 71 years. Subsequent to their years in Madison, Wisconsin, where their three daughters were born, Mary and Ken moved to Bellaire. There Mary served her Lord through her family, church, the Baptist Mission Centers, Child Evangelism Fellowship, and The Gideons Auxiliary, among many other ways. Mary was a faithful friend and confidant, always making room in her life for widows, immigrants, and the lonely. As a deeply prayerful woman, she could be counted on to pray, year in and year out, for each and every family member, friend, and need that she recognized; her prayer worked great changes in many lives.
Mary is survived by her husband Kenneth; her daughters Susan Krell, Katherine Moore and her husband Danny, and Linda Elam and her husband John; grandchildren Olaf, Ruth, Abby, Andy, Joanne, David, and Sarah; and 14 great-grandchildren. Our wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, friend, and sister in Christ is dearly missed, but we rejoice in the hope and assurance of the resurrection that she shared with us.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 23, 2021 at Pine Valley Bible Church, 4101 Grimes Street, Houston, Texas 77087, preceded by visitation with the family beginning at 1:00 p.m. and followed by a reception.
