Mary Helen Manuel

Mary Helen was born in the car on the way to the hospital on April 12, 1945 to Maria and Cesario Galindo in Houston, Texas. Arriving the way she did into the world, it makes perfect sense why her favorite song is “On the Road Again.”

After Mary Helen graduated from Jefferson Davies High School, she enrolled in a Beautician Academy and began her career as a hair stylist. She enjoyed working for over 40 years in the beauty industry helping her clients always look and feel their best. After she retired, she would still travel every week from Point Break to Houston to do Mrs. Warner’s hair. She loved Mr. And Mrs. Warner.

On September 10, 1988 she married the love of her life, Willard Manuel. Mary Helen and Willard enjoyed 35 wonderful years of marriage. During their marriage they loved visiting with Rodney Alan and his wife Barbara. Rodney and Barbara were always there for them when they called.

Mary Helen loved her bother-in-law Rodney Manuel and sister-in-law Linda Manuel dearly. Mary Helen would call them up and say, “Road Trip” which meant she wanted them to come take them to the casino in Louisiana. Mary Helen, Willard, Rodney and Linda were card playing partners for years. It was not unusual for them to play seven days a week. When Mary Helen would call and say “Man Down" it meant that one of them had fallen.

Mary Helen was predeceased by her parents, Maria and Cesario Galindo, her brother Charles Galindo, and sister Margaret Ruth Sepilveden.

Mary Helen is survived by her husband Willard, who she loved and adored beyond measure, her son Rudy Perales of Dayton, TX, granddaughter Erica Perales of Australia, and grandson Jacob Perales of Conroe, TX, sisters Melinda Cortes and Stella Bedillo both of Houston, TX.

A visitation will be held at Earthman Bellaire Funeral Home on Monday, November 27 from 11:30 am to 12:30 p.m. A private burial will take place by invitation only.
