It is with deep sadness that we say goodbye to Miguel Cortina Icaza. He passed away surrounded by family on January 31, 2024 at the age of 61. Diagnosed in January 2023, Miguel's battle with stage IV pancreatic cancer was tough, but he gave it everything he had with tremendous effort and courage.
Miguel was one in a million. Beloved, husband, father, son, brother, cousin, nephew and uncle, trusted friend, and caring neighbor. He was many things to many people, an avid golfer and someone who offered insights and life lessons with a joyful and charismatic personality.
Miguel lived a beautiful life. Born and raised in Mexico City, he was married for 36 years and had four wonderful children. He moved his family to Houston in 2003, where he created a beautiful and successful life working at Merrill Lynch, and later Morgan Stanley.
Miguel is survived by his mother, Luz María Icaza Gutierrez; wife, Cecilia Tamayo Fuertes; children, Miguel Cortina Tamayo, Cecilia Cortina Tamayo, Andrés Cortina Tamayo, and Fernanda Cortina Tamayo.
A Celebration of Life will be held at noon on Sunday, February 4, 2024, at Earthman Bellaire Funeral Home in Houston. All are welcome.
