Molly Ann Serrao Brown Ferris went to eternal rest on October 14, 2019. Born in Port of Spain, Trinidad, Molly lived most of her life in Houston, Texas but always called Trinidad home. She was proud of her Portuguese heritage and loved the island way of life.

Molly was an incredible woman whose generous spirit was felt by all who had the blessing to meet her. Her life can be summed up in three words: faith, family and friends. Molly was a devout Catholic and her faith was central to her life. Molly was independent and determined, her laugh was contagious and her smile could light up a room. She lived life to the fullest and found humor and joy in everyday life. Molly gave incredible hugs and was a supportive listener. She was often described as cheerful, bubbly, spunky, caring, loving, and she was a courageous fighter.

Molly never met a stranger and was compassionate to all the she met. She walked in Jesus’ footsteps by noticing and reaching out to all people. She did not judge others and she treated everyone with respect. Molly’s magnetic personality drew everyone in. She truly cared for others and instantly connected with the spark in her eye, a warm smile and her sincerity.

Molly was a devoted wife, mother and loyal friend. Her friends were truly part of our family. She loved her daughters and cherished her son-in-laws like her own sons. Molly adored her grandchildren and would share photos and updates to anyone who would listen. Molly was the life of the party and she will be greatly missed by all her family and numerous friends around the world.

Molly is preceded in death by her beloved parents, Antonio and Veronica Serrao and her siblings: brother, Owen Serrao; sister, Grace and husband Kenneth Meyer. She is also preceded in death by her two husbands. In 1962, Molly married Richard “Charlie” Brown, a loving husband and father to their two daughters. In 1981, Charlie passed away suddenly at a young age. She was a widow for almost 10 years before meeting and marrying her second husband, Raymond Ferris, a caring and loving husband and grandfather to her five grandchildren. Ray passed away in 2008. She is also preceded in death by many cherished relatives, acquaintances and lifelong friends.

Molly is survived by her two daughters: Deborah “Debbie” and husband Joe Hall; and Nicole “Niki” and husband Troy Deltz. She is also survived by her five grandchildren: grand twins, Cameron and Courtney Hall; grand twins: David and Charles Deltz and grandson, John Deltz. Molly is also survived by her brother, Stanley Serrao and his wife Patricia “Patsy” Bryan.

We would like to thank all the kind and compassionate doctors, nurses, staff and caregivers who provided care to our mother. We also truly appreciate everyone who prayed, visited, called, texted and provided support throughout this journey.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested contributions be made to the Spiritual Care Program at Houston Methodist Hospital or charity of your choosing. Donations may be sent to the Houston Methodist Hospital Foundation, P.O. Box 4384, Houston, Texas 77210-4384 in memory of Molly Brown Ferris.

Dear daughters and family of Molly,
I was so sad to hear of Molly's passing - my thoughts and prayers are with all of you.
Molly was one of my very special friends at dear old MCHS - I haven't seen her in several years, but I'll never forget her smile and friendship.
I tried to find a picture of Molly from those "Good Old MCHS Days", but here's all I could find (sorry for the bearded man in the foreground - not sure how to crop me out).
Love and prayers,
Erv Grafe
