

Norman Alan Maguire, 53, passed away May 3, 2011. Norm was born in Newburyport Massachusetts as the third child and only son of Norman Sr. and Alicia Maguire. He attended Triton High School, and was a 1981 graduate of the Texas A&M University Galveston Texas Maritime Academy with a B.S. in Marine Transportation. Norm was an Unlimited Tonnage Licensed Mariner who travelled the world after college. Norm met and fell in love with Jeanette (Jeanie) Porter in 1986 and the two were married in Columbus, Ohio in 1988. They welcomed sons James and Gordon into the world in February 1990, and October of 1994 respectively.
Norm’s career in the oil and gas industry spanned over 35 years with Global Marine, Global Santa Fe, and Hercules Offshore. He worked internationally as an Offshore Installation Manager, HSE Manager, and was the Director of Health, Safety. & Environmental at Hercules Offshore headquartered in Houston Texas at the time of his passing.
Norm was a dedicated and proud family man, loving husband, father, brother. and son. He was a friend to anyone he ever met, a natural leader, and valued employee. He had an affable manner that put everyone at ease, a quick wit, and a keen intellect. Norm’s interests included music, fishing, and anything to do with the outdoors. He had a passion for the sea.
Norm is survived by wife Jeanie, sons James and Gordon Maguire, father Norm Maguire Sr., sister Kathy Backe and her husband Russell, sister Karen Maguire, nieces Alexis and Kristina Ertzner, mother-in-law Barbara Porter, sister-in-law Rebecca Sowers and her children Dane and Brooke Sowers, and lifelong friend Rick McClaine.
Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Sunday May 8, 2011 at Earthman Bellaire Funeral Home. A Funeral Service will be held 10:00 a.m., Monday, May 9, 2011 at Earthman Bellaire Funeral Home, 6700 Ferris St. Bellaire, TX
