It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Patricia Sharon Chipman, known affectionately as Patti, who died on December 19, 2024, at the age of 77. Born on September 30, 1947, Patti was a woman of remarkable strength, intelligence, and grace. She leaves behind a legacy that will forever be cherished by her family, friends, and colleagues.
Patti is survived by her loving Husband of 47 years, Daniel Davis; her sister and brother-in-law, Kerren and David Truly; sister in law and brother in law, Emiley and Ron Jarvis, stepdaughters, Lisa McKinzie and her husband, Paul and Lindsay Davis, and her wife, Shary; nieces, Patricia Graham & Andrea Jarvis, her husband, Diarmaid; nephew Carter "Chip" Truly, and his wife Jody; grandchildren, Josh Davis, Sara Davis, and Robert Davis; and great nieces and nephews, John Honea, Ellen Honea, Sean Honea, Violet Truly and Weston Truly. She was preceded in death by her father, Paul Chipman; her mother, Connie Dale; and her stepfather, Ed Dale.
Patti was an accomplished woman who achieved much in her lifetime. She graduated with a degree in Occupational Therapy from Texas Women’s University in 1968 before going on to earn her law degree from the University of Houston in 1978, graduating Magna Cum Laude. Throughout her time as an Occupational Therapist at City Health and County Health, Patti balanced a demanding career while pursuing her passion for law. She was most proud of her work as an attorney, where her expertise and dedication made a profound impact on all who worked with her.
In her early forties, Patti’s life took an unexpected turn when she suffered a devastating aneurysm. The following years were marked by immense challenges as she fought to regain her ability to walk and speak. With determination and the support of her speech therapist, Gretchen Bebb, Patti delivered a powerful speech at Methodist Hospital's grand rounds for Neurology doctors and at the Texas Legislature. Her speech highlighted the critical importance of speech therapy for those recovering from head trauma. Once Gretchen retired, she continued her speech therapy with Cindy Cadle, always striving to learn for 36 years.
Despite the obstacles, Patti’s resilience never wavered. She found joy in her family and friends, attending Mass, playing cards (especially bridge), visiting Santa Fe, and prior to the illness, playing golf. When Patti invited you into her world, you were there for life no matter what. Above all, her greatest joy was in practicing law, where she continued to make a difference in the lives of others until her passing.
Patti’s life was one of perseverance, service, and love. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
A funeral mass will be held, Friday, December 27, 2024, in the Our Lady of Lourdes Chapel at St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church, 6800 Buffalo Speedway, Houston, TX 77025. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Garden of Memories.
