

Patrick McLaughlin, Jr., 86, of Houston, Texas passed away on October 14, 2021, in his home surrounded by his family and healthcare workers. He was born on September 22, 1935, in Laredo, Tx to Bernice and Patrick McLaughlin. He moved often as a child because his father was a professional baseball player. He joined the Air Force after high school where he became friends with Robert Dean Sopher. “Uncle Dean” brought him home on leave where he met the love of his life, Barbara Jean Sopher. The two were wed on August 12, 1960. They had a loving marriage that lasted almost 50 years until Barbara passed. Pat loved airplanes and after the service worked at the Los Alamos government site. He then began working for Boeing in Seattle and then in Las Vegas for many years before moving to Houston and working for Reynolds Metals until his retirement.
He is survived by his daughter, Dena Robinson and son-in-law Laurance Robinson; daughter Teresa Hengst; and son Patrick McLaughlin III and daughter-in-law Marie Hill McLaughlin and his beloved grandchildren Kyle and Kyra Robinson; Max Joshua, Jake and Jordyn Hengst; Danika, Kenneth, and Brennan Young, Aaron Hill and Jayon Boykin.
Pat was a devoted Catholic and was beloved by all who met him.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 28, 2021 at 11 am at Earthman Bellaire Funeral Home, 4525 Bissonnet St, Bellaire, TX 77401 with visitation and a light lunch to follow. Interment will follow at 3 pm for family only.
