

He grew up in West Texas and attended Lubbock High School and graduated from Texas Tech University in 1956.
He was blessed to meet the love of his life, Sallie Shaar and they were married in Charleston, West Virginia. Dick completed his tenure in the U.S Army and he and Sallie settled in Houston along with his brothers Bob and Don.
Dick worked in the insurance business for 10 years until 1971 when he and his cousins started a retail clothing business “The Jean Machine”. In the 1980’s he worked in wholesale clothing sales until his retirement in 2000.
Dick’s post retirement job was working for the Houston Astros working in the Press box at the opening of Enron Field for 14 seasons. It was a paid position but he would have worked for free, as he was passionate about baseball and all sports, for that matter.
He is preceded in death by his parents Sied and Veda Waheed, and his beloved identical twin brother Bob. He is survived by his devoted wife of 58 years, Sallie, his son Rob and his wife Deborah, and his daughter Kathy and her husband Joe. He was most proud of his 3 granddaughters, Kristen, Kelly and Sarah. He is also survived by his brother Don and many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was blessed with many wonderful friends who he also considered family.
