Roger Russell Rue

Roger Russell Rue, age 78, departed this life on May 14, 2015 at his home in Houston,TX. Roger was born in Crowley, Louisiana June 10, 1936, the first child of Lowell and Evelyn Rue. He graduated from Iota High School in 1955. At age 17, he joined the Navy Reserve and from 1961 – 1962 served in active duty during the Cold War. Roger was retired from the VA Hospital after working as a medical research assistant, a cardio-pulmonary function technician, and later on a photographer in the Medical Media Department. Roger was a long-time member of the West University Church of Christ where he served as a deacon for almost 47 years.

He is survived by his wife Nancy, sister Sandra Dickey, two sons Kevin and Mark, numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his sister Charlene Wallace.

Visitation will be at 10:00 am followed by a Funeral Service at 11:00 am, Wednesday, May 20, 2015 at West University Church of Christ, 3407 Bissonnet, Houston, TX 77005. Interment will follow at 2:30 pm at Houston National Cemetery.
