I am a year late on this... While doing a Google search, I stumbled across dear Shirley's obituary.  I will always remember her kindness and her faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.  Hugs and prayers to her friends and family.

Very sorry to hear about Shirley's passing.  She was a wonderful woman and very sweet and kind.  My kids remember her working in the office at Braeswood too.  God bless you all as you journey this time together.  Our prayers will be with you.

Shirley was such a dear friend.  I will always be grateful for her friendship and encouragement through the years of working together.  Working with her was such a joy.  She loved serving at Braeswood and poured her heart into it.  She will be terribly missed.  
I had such great respect for her as a godly woman.  She was extremely serious about her relationship with the Lord and was always excited about sharing her knowledge.  You could not help but enjoy her many humorous adventures or "Shirley stories."  Her sense of humor was clearly unique.  She loved you all so very much and expressed that love constantly. You were her pride and joy.  She is rejoicing with the Savior she worshiped and longed to be with.  My prayers and thoughts will continue to be with all of you.

Kenneth, Gary and Julie, we have all cried, I know Shirley is so happy to be at home with her Savior, Leroy and family who are already in heaven. I bet she is driving the streets of heaven backward... she told me she loved to drive the streets of Bellaire backing up! Oh, how welcoming heaven was to this Saint, who taught us all how to serve in a church, to serve people with love, and love the Lord.  I will miss her sweet, sweet smile.  Someday we will all meet again, and what a day that will be.  Loved you so much Shirley you were a dear friend.  May God give you peace, laughter and joy as you celebrate her home going. I have good memories of her humility and gentleness in Gary's Sundays School class. Glory be to God for her humble service to Him, and thank God for her eternal security. I pray that the God of all comfort will comfort every members of her family at this time of bereavement.

I have good memories of spending time with y'all - our "cool" older cousins! My Mom (Bonnie Haydel Cleaver) and your Mom had crazy adventures-Mom said she has dyed your Mom's hair every color in the rainbow and they made plenty of late night runs to the drug store to get more dye to try to fix their mistakes before your Dad would get home. They had good times...Praying for you all.

To the Family,  Steve and I loved Shirley so much and she will forever be in our hearts. She will be greatly missed here on this earth, but she has finished the race with great Victory.  I know the Staff at Braeswood will miss here.. She was such a committed friend to each and everyone there. God Bless You.

Gary and Michael, your Mother (like mine) has left you with a vast Christian inheritance. This is something that no amount of money can buy. She walked the walk and talked the talk. No one had to question her walk with Jesus. Many times we talked about all the family meeting one glad day in Heaven! Her hearts desire was that all her family would be ready to go should The Lord come or call us home. Remembering the times when I stayed at y'all's house and we would be getting the phone surveys done then rushing to get them in the mail before the deadline was up. Shirley looking for "dots in the box"(candy). There are so many happy family memories I could go on and on. I can hear Shirley laughing now! She was such a special person and I love her so much! To all the family, you will always miss her but just being a part of her life will have made you rich beyond words. I am so shocked and saddened to learn of Shirley's death. She was such a Rock to the fellowship at Braeswood. So many times I remember her sitting at her desk in the front office - Keeper of the Church Calendar. I enjoyed the many times that she and Kenneth would sit behind me during the 8 a.m. Sunday service. It was such a treat to see them! I will certainly miss this very special woman of God.

I remember visiting with Aunt Shirley one Summer.  She was pregnant with Gary.  We were riding to town to the bank.  Boys in other cars kept flirting with her.  She would raise up in her seat to show them that she was expecting.  We always had so many laughs together.  When we got to town to the bank,  she couldn't find a parking place in front of the bank - so she told me to come get in the drivers seat and keep driving the car around the block while she went in and got her banking business done.  I don't remember how old I was, but I didn't have a driving license yet.   We had so much fun together.  We spent most of our time laughing.  She was very special and dear to me.  Heaven's a lot brighter now, with her in it.  I loved her a lot.   Cynthia (Cindy) Rhoden

My Precious Aunt Shirley, my life has been forever changed because of who you were. My heart is breaking and I am missing you so much all ready. I am going to truly miss being able to call you when I am down and needing prayer. You will never know what a big part of my being a Christian you were. I love you so much, I miss the laughter and the smile you always brought with you. I was so blessed to have you in my life for the past 60 years.
