

Sister Julian Giglio, O.P. died June 14, 2011. Sr. Julian was born to the late Charles and Antoinette Cuchia Giglio on January 29, 1923, in Beaumont, TX. She is survived by her brothers J.C. (Theresa), and Dr. Frank (Marcia), by her sister Catherine Morrison, and by many nieces and nephews.
Having joined the Dominican Sisters of Houston on March 8, 1942, Sr. Julian gave herself tirelessly in the ministry of education for 67 years. Sixty of these were in administration. Grateful for her service are the people of Houston (Sacred Heart, St. Christopher, St. Jerome, Northwest/Seton Jr. High, St. Augustine); Port Arthur (St. Mary, St. Catherine); Orange (St. Mary); Beaumont (St. Anne); Riverside, CA (St. Francis de Sales); Galveston (Odyssey Academy, Christus Literacy Center). Sr.
Julian's warmth and openness endeared her to many who will miss her.
Her body will be welcomed at St. Dominic Villa at 4:00 p.m. on Friday June 17. The vigil service is 7:00 p.m. Friday at Dominican Sisters Center for Spirituality. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 18 also at the Spirituality Center. Interment will follow at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery.
In lieu of the usual remembrances, donations may be made to Dominican Sisters Retirement Fund, 6501 Almeda Road, Houston, TX 77021.
