

Walter Charles Adams, 92, went home to be with his beloved Annelle and the Lord on Saturday, July 8th 2017. Walter was born on January 16th 1925 in Hartford, Connecticut, the son of Edwin Carter Adams and Hazel Otis (Haynes).
He grew up in Hartford, Connecticut with his older sister Eloise and was active in Boy Scouts and church choir. He graduated high school in 1943 and immediately joined the US Army Air Corps. While in the army he worked as a radar technician on P-61 (Black-widow) Night Fighters, one of the first war planes equipped with radar. He met his future wife Annelle Jane Chambliess, an Army WAAC at Hammer Field in Fresno, Ca. After they both left the army they married on May 12, 1946 in Oakwood, Tx. The young couple set up house in Springfield, Mass. and also lived in Hartford and Windsor Locks, Ct. Walter started out selling Fruehauf trailers for 3 years before moving on into electronics, his true passion.
Their family grew to six kids, 3 girls and 3 boys, and in 1964 came to Houston, Tx when Walter was offered a job there by General Electric as a salesmen of two way mobile radios. Leaving GE sales Walter had several other jobs over the years in the electronics repair field and finally landed a job as a two way radio technician with the Texas Highway Dept. (TxDot) in Houston where he worked for 18 years until he retired in May 1991. Walter was an avid camper and was active in Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts and Cub Scouts with his children and grandchildren and loved teaching his skills to the next generation. He loved airplanes, computers, cooking and his cameras and was a true home handyman. He could fix anything and taught us well. He was a great father and a great friend to all who met him. He was known by his grand children and great-grand children as "BoomPa". He enjoyed life to the fullest and lived his life following the Boy Scout Law: A Scout is Trustworthy, Loyal, Helpful, Courteous, Kind, Obedient, Cheerful, Thrifty, Brave, Clean and Reverent.
He is preceded in death by his wife Annelle and father Edwin Carter Adams and mother Hazel Otis Haynes and his sister Eloise Haynes Adams.
He is survived by his six children, Susan Pue and husband Danny of Cut and Shoot, Tx., Joyce Scott of Houston, Tx., Mark Adams of Neosho, Mo., Alice Tannahill and husband Tom of Sugar Land, Tx., Matthew Adams and wife Kathy of Sugar Land, Tx., John Adams and wife Paula of Cat Springs, Tx., plus 12 Grand children and 8 Great Grand children and also Nieces and Nephews.
A remembrance gathering is planned for August 26th for family and friends. A private burial will follow in Oakwood, Tx for family at a later date.
