Warren Clifford Lovelady, age 68, passed away March 26, 2011 of pancreatic cancer. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Diana Lynn (Clark) Lovelady, daughter Jana Lynn Mills and husband Blake Mills, son Steven Glynn Lovelady, wife Juliane Lovelady, and grandson Jase Conner Lovelady. Survived also by his sister Francis Ballard and husband Charles, sister Mary K. Barringer, brother Ronald Dean Lovelady, Sr. and wife Carolyn, and sister Natalie Lovelady. Predeceased by brother Lennox Lovelady, Jr. and sister Nancy Flurry.
Warren was an amazing person, always upbeat and joking. He was the 'life of the party' wherever he went. One of his great loves was fishing on his favorite pier at the spring fed lake in Conroe sitting in his canopy chair. Bar-B-Q was his next favorite activity which he and Jim Bilnoski practiced for many years at our Spirit of Spellman (SOS) block parties (hence the Spirit of Spellman shirt photo).
Warren will always be remembered at the office for the creation of the 'Mad Hatters' which was a small group that brought silliness and laughs to office personnel for birthdays and holidays. Anyone who worked with Warren will remember his Christmas CD's starting the day after Thanksgiving. There was NO room for a 'bah-humbug' around Warren.
Christmas at home was like the 'Clark Griswold's' (as the kids would joke) as the entire house and yard were covered in lights. This was a ritual in that it was an all-day event involving Christmas carols playing in the front yard. The neighbors always said when Warren turned his lights on, the whole block dimmed (ha ha). He was always the first to put his lights out thus shaming the other neighbors to put lights out soon after.
Diana is big into gardening and Warren photographed every plant that bloomed....I mean EVERY plant. We now have a catalog of plant photos for each year. They took many trips down to her favorite garden place and spent many weekends building new beds in the front and back creating a sanctuary of beauty.
At his kids birthday events, Warren was always the one to make everyone laugh and be silly. All the kids 'begged' to have slumber parties at the Lovelady's. He loved to bike-ride and on weekends, would bike-ride with the kids all over creation, sometimes coming home by dark, leaving Diana biting her nails. He helped coach Steven's soccer team for several years and loved the excitement of the sport.
He loved all sports but Luv Ya Blue was his favorite of all time....when the Houston Oilers were in their hay-day. Even his favorite color was 'baby blue'. We had many a good time with our pom poms and Oiler hats watching the game on TV with friends.
We know anyone who ever met him will miss him greatly as he was one of a kind.
