

Dorothy Kummermehr Swank, nee Cange, 95, of Fairview Heights, Ill., born March 22, 1915, in Cahokia, Ill., passed away on Monday, Oct. 4, 2010, at Caseyville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Caseyville, Ill. Dorothy was a retired bookkeeper for R & K Construction Company. She previously worked for State Representative James "Bud" Krause in the insurance and real estate offices. She was a home healthcare professional for the elderly. Loved gardening, crafts and cooking, traveling and the St. Louis Cardinals. She would bake 20 to 30 different kinds of cookies every year for Christmas. She was very proud to be the president of her graduating class of 1933 from St. Teresa Academy. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Swank; and her first husband, Kermit Kummermehr; parents, August and Mary, nee Jerome, Cange; siblings, Belle (Walter) Touchette, Rose (Richard) Rehg, Odelia (Charles) Edwards, Hilda (George) Dauer, Clarence (Margaret) Cange and Cletus (Florence) Cange; dear nephew, LeRoy Cange; nieces, Virginia Rehg Drewing and Cleta (Edwards) Mross; and son-in-law, Rob Bodkin. Surviving are her son, Ronald (Pat) Kummermehr; daughters, Arlene Kummermehr and Bonnie (Steve Thone)Bodkin; grandchildren, Craig (Joyce) Kummermehr, Chris (Jodi) Kummermehr, Cathy (Ron) Wall, Carrie (Rick) Watson and K.C. (Hilda) Frank; seven great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; also, survived by many nieces and nephews and special and loving companion, Katie.
