

Mr. Sullivan was an Army veteran and served during World War II in the 64th Chemical Depot. Co., then retired from General Steel as a foreman. After his retirement he assisted funerals at the J.Dewey Holten Funeral Home which was located in Belleville, Ill., for 18 years. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus 592 and the C.C. Camp. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed spending his free time out on the greens. Douglas was a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
He was preceded in death by his wife, June, nee Goff, Sullivan; a son, James D. "Jim" Sullivan; parents, Hugh "Jack" and Louanna, nee Humphrey, Sullivan; and a brother, Donald Sullivan.
Surviving are his daughter, Marry "Patti" (Jaime) Menendez; grandchildren, Amie and Keri Menendez; great-grandchildren, Joey and Jeffery Menendez and Jenna House. Douglas was a dear brother-in-law, uncle and cousin.

Visitation: Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, March 21, 2010, at Valhalla Gaerdner Holten Funeral Home, 3412 Frank Scott Parkway West, Belleville, Ill.
Funeral: Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, March 22, 2010, at St. Henry's Catholic Church, 5315 West Main Street, Belleville, Ill., with Father Kenneth York officiating. Interment will follow the service at Mount Carmel Catholic Cemetery, Belleville, Ill.
