

Mr. Murphy was President and CEO of Modern Motors of Belleville for 56 years. His professional associations were many, which included the Showman’s League of America, St. Louis Chapter, which he served as their Treasurer for 26 years and established their Scholarship Fund; Showman’s League of America; The Outdoor Amusement Business Association who honored him by inducting him into their Hall of Fame; and the Arizona Showman’s Association of which he was a past-President. Ed also proudly served in the U.S. Navy.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 61 years Shirley, nee Smith, Murphy; two sons, Daniel Murphy and Timothy Murphy; and his parents, Rudolph T. and Mary M., nee Duggan, Wodohodsky.
He is survived by a son, Michael (Maureen Thomas-Murphy) Murphy of St. Louis, MO; six grandchildren, Andrea Swyear, Steven Murphy, Megan Holtman, Julia Haeffele, Alex Murphy and Olivia Murphy; five great-grandchildren, Livia Swyear, Damon Swyear, Reese Holtman, Brynn Holtman, and Tessa Holtman; three daughters-in-law, Darlene Murphy, Annette Allan, and Pamela Murphy; two sisters, Loretta Matsumoto of Aiea, Hawaii and Elizabeth Raver of Burlingame, CA.
The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to Eric Flake, Victoria Taylor, and Michelle Janes for all their kindness and generosity extended to Mr. Murphy.
