Ethel E West

Ethel attended Amarillo College, West Texas State University, and Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri. She was a Registered Record Administrator at Barnes Hospital. In the early 1970’s, she helped organized Murray Parents Association, INC. In addition, she served as second President of the association. Ethel served on many of the St. Clair County Mental Health Project’s including the Specialized Living Center in Swansea, Illinois. Ethel was a member of Union United Methodist Church for over 50 years.

Preceding her in death was her husband of 48 years, Lewis (Lew) J. West who died on April 5, 2006, and her daughter Elizabeth Kay West.

Surviving are her daughter, Emily West, Belleville, Illinois and her son Paul J. West Centralia, Illinois, her sister-in-law LuCille Smith of Maryville, IL and her nieces and nephews including Jeannie Ruth Fritts near Phoenix, Arizona and Jim Harris of Amarillo, Texas.

A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, Dec. 31, 2015 at 1:30 p.m. at the Valhalla Gaerdner Holten Funeral Home, 3412 Frank Scott Parkway, Belleville, IL with Rev. Aromanze Spight officiating.

Graveside services will be private at Oakridge Cemetery in New Athens, IL. Her body was cremated.
