

Henri was born in Vitet, Saint Barthelemy to Henri Gregoire and Anastasie Leontine (Bernier) Ledee. They preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by Gilbert (Aloisia) Ledee, brother and sister-in-law, Francois Maugard, brother-in-law, Gertrude (Rigobert) LaPlace, sister and brother-in-law, Nestor (Patricia) Ledee, brother and sister-in-law, Christiane Ledee, sister, Valentin Berry, brother-in-law, Gary Stakelborough, brother-in-law, Emmanuel Ledee, brother-in-law, Patricia Berry, niece, Patrice LaPlace, nephew.
Henri married Marie Simone Ledee on May 18, 1966; together, they shared 59 years of marriage. Marie survives and resides in Belleville, IL.
Henri is also survived by his children, Marianne Gibbs, Eldorado, IL, Michelle Ledee, Belleville, IL, Henry (Denise) Ledee, Balwin, IL, Rose (Rick) Stangle, O’Fallon, MO; grandchildren; Dallas Smith and Katrina Beaumont, Newburgh, IN, TJ (Allison) Smith, Petersburg, IN, Zack Smith, Moscow Mills, MO, Jeremy (Lucy) Houser, Elsberry, MO, Alex Settles, O’Fallon, MO, Tara Hollis, Belleville, IL, Taylor Hollis and Matt Liefer, Red Bud, IL; great-grandchildren, Linkin and Silas Smith, Newburgh, IN, Evellyn Smith, Petersburg, IN, Sunny, August, Sawyer Houser, Elsberry, MO, Liam Cobb, Red Bud, IL; sisters, Anita Maugard, France, Uranie Berry, Madeleine Ledee-Stakelborough, brother, Joseph Ledee, St Barthelemy; sister-in-laws, Marguerite Ledee, Genevieve Ledee, Sister Veronique de Pa Ste Face, St Barthelemy. Henri was a dear uncle, great-uncle, great-grand uncle.
Henri was the eldest of nine children. He supported his family working as a Baker, with a majority of his career at Famous-Barr. Henri enjoyed spending time with family, telling stories, challenging young minds with riddles, working word search puzzles, and playing cards. He also enjoyed playing the accordion, singing songs and gardening.
A visitation for Henri will be held on Friday, February 6, 2026, from 10:00 A.M.- 11:00 A.M. at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Belleville, IL. A funeral Mass will follow, at 11:00 A.M. at the church. Interment will be held at Valhalla Gardens of Memory, Belleville, IL.
Memorial donations in Henri’s memory may be made to Our Lady Queen of Peace Improvement Fund.
