

John graduated from Assumption Catholic High School in 1970. He worked for Mallinckrodt Pharmaceuticals as a chemical operator until he retired. John was married to the love of his life Debbie for 40 years until she passed in 2018. He enjoyed golfing and fishing, but above all else, he treasured spending time with his family, especially his grandson, Cooper. He was an incredibly generous, caring and altruistic man who will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents; beloved wife, Deborah (nee Coleman) Jennings; brother, Bobby Jennings; father-in-law, Wayne Coleman and mother-in-law, Dolores “Tootsie” Coleman.
Surviving to cherish his memory are his children, Christopher (Katie) Jennings, Donald Simpson and Chad Jennings; grandchildren, Spencer (Mary) Simpson, Lauren (Tim) Burgard and Cooper Jennings; brother, Leon “Red” (Joan) Jennings; sisters, Judy (Curt) Marchand and Brenda Aramowicz; plus numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Donations in John’s memory can be made to the American Lung Association.
Visitation will take place from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM on Monday, January 2, 2023 at Valhalla Gaerdner Holten Funeral Home, Belleville, IL, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM, officiated by Father Kenneth York. Interment to follow at Valhalla Gardens of Memory, Belleville, IL.
