

Mrs. Lopez was born July 26, 1924 in Belleville, Ill., the daughter of Herman Joseph Feldmann and Edna Mae, nee Fallin, Feldmann.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Alice Marie Mauser.
Mary Ann was a homemaker, worked for the American Heart Association and at many retail locations throughout Belleville including Plaza Music and Sav-Mart Jewelry. She was also a former social services director at Notre Dame Nursing Home. She inherited a love of barbershop harmony and was a member of multiple chapters of Sweet Adelines International and a Charter Member of the American Business Womens' Association. She also worked as a dedicated volunteer for many years at the Women’s Crisis Center Shelter Shop in Belleville. She made friends with everyone she met, and her lively spark will be dearly missed.
Surviving are her husband of 70 years, John Eugene Lopez, whom she married on January 13, 1947, in Santa Monica, California; four children, Gary (Margaret) Lopez of Shiloh, Ill.; Rebecca Cordes of Columbia, Ill.; Mona (John Hessling) Taylor of Maryland Heights, Mo.; and Mary Jean Lopez of Belleville, Ill.; grandchildren, Tammy (Tom) Carpenter of Freeburg, Ill., Nicole (Scott) Olson of Smithton, Ill., Mary Ann (Mark) Lopez-Drake of Belleville, Ill., Emily (David) Wombacher of Smithton, Ill., R. Scott (Amy) Hettenhausen of Muri by Bern, Switzerland, John (Kristi) Hettenhausen of O’Fallon, Ill., and Jeremy Appel of Belleville, Ill.; ten great-grandchildren, Noah and Henry Carpenter; Avery and Addison Olson; Sophia, Ava and Ella Hettenhausen; and Ben, Matthew and Jack Hettenhausen.
A private memorial service is planned at a later date. Cremains will be entombed at Valhalla Gardens of Memory in Belleville, Ill. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois, 305 S. Illinois St., Belleville, IL 62220.
