

Richard was born on July 31, 1941 in Belleville, IL to George and Vera (Schmidt)Travous. They preceded him in death.
He was also preceded in death by the love of his life and mother to his sons, Betty Ann Adair; and his brothers, Alan Travous, David Travous and George Travous.
Richard is survived by his sons, Richard (Melissa) Travous of Belleville, IL, Jerry (Elizabeth) Travous of Trenton, IL, Jason (Julia) Travous of Benton, KY; and his grandchildren, Brittany Schrand, Danielle McKenzie, Drayven Barker and Mitchell Travous.
Richard proudly served his country in the United States Navy. He was a member of the American Legion Post 58 in Belleville, IL.
For more than 30 years, Richard worked in HVAC at the St. Louis College of Pharmacy, where he was known for his strong work ethic and genuine pride in keeping things running smoothly. He truly loved his job and the many friendships he built along the way.
Outside of work, Richard was a devoted sports fan. He especially enjoyed cheering on Alabama sports and the St. Louis Cardinals. Whether watching a game or talking sports with friends and family, those moments brought him great joy.
Above all, Richard will be remembered for his steadfast nature and the love he shared with those around him. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
A memorial service for Richard will be held on Saturday, March 7, 2026 at 12:00 P.M. at Valhalla Gaerdner Holten Funeral Home in Belleville, IL.
A visitation will be held two hours prior to the service, from 10:00 A.M.- 12:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Private interment will be held at a later date at Valhalla Gardens of Memory in Belleville, IL.
