Ricky graduated from Cahokia Senior High in 1977. He was a machinist for Quality Screw Machine Products and a former volunteer firefighter for Camp Jackson for over 20 years. He proudly worked for the St. Clair County emergency taskforce hazmat team. Ricky enjoyed fishing, mushroom hunting, motorcycles, and going to estate sales and auctions. It didn’t take much to make Ricky happy; he enjoyed life’s simple pleasures, like sitting on his porch, sipping iced tea, and going for drives. He enjoyed tending to his yard and loved growing tomatoes, from which he’d make salsa to give to his loved ones. But above all else, Ricky enjoyed spending time with his family. Ricky was incredibly kindhearted, easy going, and generous beyond measure. He will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Bernadine (nee Cunningham) Dunning, and his sisters, Evangelia Kay and Patricia Heacock.
Surviving to cherish his memory are his fiancée, Freda McVey, siblings, Robert (Doris) Dunning, Ray (Beckie) Dunning, Gene (Vicky) Dunning, Beverly (Greg) Tucker, Terry Droege, Vicki Walters, and Roger (Laura) Dunning, plus numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and countless friends.
Family and close friends are invited to gather from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Friday, July 14, 2023 with a memorial service to commence at 1:00 PM at Valhalla Gaerdner Holten Funeral Home, Belleville, IL.
