Robert Allen Peter

Bob was born in Belleville on June 5, 1928 and enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He retired in 1985 from Southwestern Bell Telephone after 38 years of dedicated service. He was a life member of St. Elizabeth's Hospital Auxiliary where he and his wife Betty volunteered for over 25 years. Bob proudly served on the Board of Directors at the Bank of O’Fallon and at Security First Bancshares, Inc. He was a longtime member of our Lady Queen of Peace Parish where he served as a Eucharistic Minister. Bob was also a member of Knights of Columbus, Moose Lodge 1221, Belleville Telephone Pioneers, and a WWII Veteran who served in the United States Navy.

Bob was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Betty J., nee Huller, his parents Raymond and Lillian Peter, and his in-laws, Arthur and Mildred Huller.

Surviving are his two sons; Dr. John (Mary) Peter of Shiloh, Dr. David (Angie) Peter of Webster Groves, MO, his daughter Jean (Dan) Normansell of Belleville; grandchildren, Robert and Sam Peter, Eric and Katelyn Peter, David and Elizabeth Peter, Sarah (Chris) Gass, Daniel (fiancée Kristin Dinga) Normansell, and David (Jane) Normansell; great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Jacob and Hailey Gass; a brother, Ray (Karin) Peter of Olympia, Washington.

Visitation: Friends may call from 4 to 8 pm, Sunday, October 5, 2014 at Valhalla Gaerdner Holten Funeral Home, Belleville, Illinois.

Funeral: Procession will leave the funeral home at 9:30 am. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 am, Monday October 6, 2014 at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Belleville, Illinois. Interment will be in Valhalla Gardens of Memory, Belleville, Illinois.
