Tessie (Granny) Clover, 94, of Swansea, IL passed away on September 27, 2019. She is at peace now with our Lord and Savior, waiting to see us again. She is preceded in death by her husband, Nelson R Clover; son, Donald Lee Clover; brothers, Bill, Ted, and Gene; and sisters, Gert, Vivian, Ida, Gladys and her twin, Essie.
Tessie is survived by her grandchildren: Kevin D., Lisa Jo, Scott, Chad, LeAnn, and Michael; great grandchildren, Colt, Joshua, Bre’Ana, and Olivia, Scotty Ray, Samantha, and Scarlett, Sarah and Savannah, Tayvon, Thomas, and Kanen; dear sister, Gladys Phillips and her children, Jack (Pam) and Dean; and extended family and friends.
Tessie was one of several children in a large family raised during The Depression. She was baptized in the Baptist faith and had a very strong work ethic working in many places throughout her life including the Army Depot, Castlehaven Nursing Home, a shoe and jacket factory, the Town House Motel and the Eagles Restaurant. Tessie even spent a few summers in Alaska raising tomatoes in a greenhouse. She loved her family and enjoyed babysitting her grandkids. Her strong spirit and generous heart will be missed.
Friends may visit on Wednesday, October 2, 2019 from 10 a.m. until time of service at noon at Valhalla Gaerdner Holten Funeral Home, 3412 Frank Scott Pkwy W, Belleville, IL 62223. Interment will follow at Valhalla Gardens of Memory. Memorials are appreciated to St. Jude’s Research Hospital for Children.
