Barbara Carol Flagg

Barbara was born in New York on March 17, 1926, to Simon and Sylvia Weiner. She lived in New York, Arizona, Georgia, and Washington State. She was married to Jesse Flagg for forty-one years until his death in 1991. Barbara had three children: Susan who lives in Medina, Washington, Andrew who lives in Lewes, Delaware and Charles who passed away in 2007; survived by his wife Mary and two children.

Barbara was a well-loved member of the Merrill Gardens Kirkland community, having lived at Merrill Gardens since its opening. Named a Merrill Gardens Resident Ambassador, Barbara was a fixture on the food forum and other community events. She always had a smile on her face and advice for new residents to welcome them to the community.

Barbara was also active on the Kirkland Senior Council. Her tenure included a ride on the 4th of July parade float. She also enjoyed the aerobics classes at Merrill Gardens.

To her friends she was helpful, and kind. She was known for her fashion sense and extensive collection of beautiful jewelry pins. Barbara loved opera and classical music. Barbara attended The Juilliard School in New York to study voice. She also loved watching Bill Maher’s Real Time on HBO.

She is survived by her sister Esta, who splits her time between Georgia and Massachusetts, her daughter Susan, son Andrew, son in law Jerry, daughter in law Rhonda and seven grandchildren: Alexandra, Reid, Jacob, Eli, Kyle, Lauren, and David.
